Ferries & Commercial

As a design partner in SSC Marine, responsible for the Naval Architecture and hull design, SMD has been involved with projects such as the southern hemisphere’s first high speed, high passenger number, fully electric ferry, for which reducing resistance was essential to maintain the project’s viability.

Other commercial/workboats range from fishing vessels to landing craft and all share our design philosophy of efficiency at the specified design point, but with adequate ‘bandwidth’ to deal with variation in payload and/or its distribution.
